5 Reasons Why You Should Be Printing Your Photos

Updated: Jun 15, 2022

Printing and displaying your memories is extremely important and here is why!

Technology Comes and Goes - Let’s face it. Technology and digital storage changes rapidly. Remember floppy disks? The memory drives full of images you planned to print—2 moves, 3 computers, and 4 kids’ weddings ago—are now obsolete. Many photos on hard drives get lost or even worse, deleted. Don’t store. Print. As explained in detail in this blog - Print isn't Dead! Its Better than Ever!

To Keep Memories Alive – Printed photos are a great way to keep memories alive. Memories are tied to touch. When was the last time you picked up a picture of your family, stroked the face of a loved one now gone, or laughed as you remembered the antics of a child in the photo? Memories of times past are often revived through touch.Photography is best enjoyed in print and touching a computer screen will never trigger the same smile a print will get.

Print Photos for Your Children - This is the most photographed generation of all time. It’s unbelievable how many photos are taken today. To think we were limited to 24 pictures in each roll of film – this generation wouldn’t know what to do! They would only get one chance at their best “duck face” photo. Or, more than likely, I would only get one chance at the “perfect” photo of my daughter playing with her toys.

All jokes aside, our children rely on us to be their memory keepers and to tell their stories. That means that they also rely on us to print their photos. We can let them look through pictures on our smartphones all we want, but that’s not the same as them having a physical copy of a photo, in a beautiful frame, hanging on the the living room wall.

Children love to look at photos of themselves and hear the stories behind their photos. Even as they grow up and become adults, they will still cherish their pictures.

Framed Photos Are Great For Using In Home Decor – Family portraits add a warmth and life missing in other artwork. How? Each time you walk past your wedding portrait or family group shot you smile and your day is brightened. They are beautiful reminders throughout your home of the wonderful life that you have lived. You can use cheep and cheerful frames from Ikea, or expensive high quality art peaces from my partners at Loxley Colour, as long as it contributes to to the warmth of your home!

To Leave a Legacy – I love looking through old photos of my parents and grandparents and getting a glimpse into their daily lives from many years ago. I recently visited my mom’s house, and we spent a good portion of the weekend going through old albums. It was then that I realized that I too wanted to leave a legacy for the generations to come after me. Not only for my children but for my grandchildren as well. I want to capture photos that will accurately depict the story that my family is living and leave a legacy through photos for others to remember us by. By printing my photos and placing them into albums, I feel that I am better able to leave a legacy behind.
